Instructions for drivers

These visiting and safety instructions apply to traffic and operations at Raahe Lapaluoto Port.

Arriving at the Lapaluoto Port area

• Access to the port is via Lapaluodontie. The distance from highway 8 to Lapaluoto is about 3.5 km. The port area is fenced and equipped with a remote-controlled gate.

• When arriving at the gate, please contact access control using the intercom or by telephoning +358 20 491 2924.

• Reception of goods and supervisors are located in the Satamatalo building about 300 metres from the gate. Please report to the supervisor on arrival to get your access pass to the cargo handling area.

• Cargo transport is not allowed to access SSAB steelworks through Lapaluoto Port. Access to SSAB steelworks is only through the SSAB main gate.

• There is recording CCTV surveillance in the Lapaluoto area.

Things to consider when moving in the port area

• Please observe and give way to the internal forklift or heavy-duty vehicle transport in the port area.

• Speed limit in the port area is 30 km/h.

• Everyone moving on foot in the storage, working or quay area of the port must wear CE-labelled high-visibility warning clothing. This also applies to unloading and devanning. Avoid the cargo handling areas of ships that are being loaded or unloaded. The area between a ship to be unloaded and storage is only intended for stevedoring.

• All unauthorised or unnecessary access in this area is forbidden.

• Be careful when moving near warehouse corners or doorways. Vehicles must use warning lights or emergency indicators if required in the vicinity of such areas.

• Drivers are not allowed to leave the vicinity of their vehicles.

• Smoking is prohibited in the IMDG container storage area and its vicinity as well as any indicated non-smoking areas.

• Please put all rubbish and waste in relevant waste containers.

• Any damage or other incidents must be reported to the stevedoring supervisor.
